Upgraded Saddle Upgraded Saddle

5×Diamond · 1×Saddle · 3×Copper Ingot

It’s a real investment, but it’s a one-time cost per horse and it unlocks every other piece of gear.

What it unlocks

Equip it on a horse and the horse’s inventory screen gains five gear slots:

Chest storage

Drop a plain Chest into the chest slot for 27 storage slots on the horse screen, a full single chest that walks around with you.

Empty the chest before removing it, or the contents drop on the ground.

Ender Chest option

Use an Ender Chest instead and those 27 slots become your Ender Inventory, the same one shared by every ender chest you own.

That means a horse that can reach your base storage from the far side of the world. Swapping back to a normal chest, or pulling the ender chest out entirely, doesn’t lose anything: ender inventory contents live with your player, not the horse.

Fitting an ender chest earns the Pocket Dimension, Four Legs advancement.

The stats overlay

Hold the Upgraded Saddle and look at any horse, including wild, untamed ones, to show a Horse Stats panel above your hotbar:

  • Gender
  • Breed
  • Speed in blocks per second
  • Jump height in blocks

Removing it

The saddle comes off with shears, but only after everything else is off first. A horse towing a cart won’t give up its saddle:

Unhitch the cart before taking the saddle off.

Only the owner can shear a saddle off an owned horse.
